These sunny days and warmer weather are so refreshing, they give us the boost needed to get through the final stretch of winter. In a few weeks, winter will have quietly given way to true springtime.
To make the time fly and take advantage of the melting snow, why not start getting your home ready? Use this list as a guide to plan your annual maintenance.
Exterior finish
Winter and freezing rain can really take a toll on your house.Take advantage of the milder days to inspect your home for any signs of damage: cracks, rotten or missing shingles, damaged vinyl, or crumbling bricks.
Gutters and drains

April is synonymous with heavy melting snow, which really puts your gutter system to the test. If the weather allows, give them a good cleaning to clear out any debris or ice buildup so they can work as efficiently as possible. If you have exterior drains, also keep the grates clear to prevent water from pooling.
Roof and chimney
Just like your siding, your roof has likely been put to the test by the Quebec winter. As soon as the weather permits, inspect it for any damage caused by the cold, snow, or ice before the thaw leads to water infiltration. While you’re at it, take a quick look at your chimney too!
Vents, filters and ventilation ducts

Inspect and clean all grilles, ducts, and air vents to clear out accumulated dust, drifted snow, or any small animals that might have moved in to escape the cold!
Foundations
Examine your foundation to ensure there are no cracks or signs of water infiltration. This is a problem you’ll want to catch as early as possible to avoid major complications!”
Windows and screens

Spring is the perfect time to put your screens back in and wash the windows. While you’re at it, take a look at your window seals: better safe than sorry!” Be sure to clear out your window wells to allow for good drainage around your basement windows.
